Access Group in Barnet
The Access group aims to ensure the best possible access for disabled people to all areas of the community. The group is made up of people with various impairments who check planning lists and liase with the Borough on access issues.
Barnet Independent Living Agency
BILA is a non-profit-making agency managed by users of the scheme, enabling disabled people to use personal assistants without the hassles of being an employer.
Skylark Counselling Service
Skylark is a counselling and Psychotherapy service for people affected by disability. The service is available to any disabled person, carer (personal assistant) or relative who need help with their emotional problems. Outreach Service
A home visiting service, to help with completing benefit forms, is available for disabled people who are unable to visit the office. This is a limited service, which is provided through a trained and experienced volunteer.
User Led Working Groups
Disabled people who use the services identified in the title lead all of the following user groups. Where possible, the group is chaired by a disabled person.
Each group aims to work with the Council and/or Health Authority in identifying and rooting out bad practice specially in the area of consultation with service users, service development, service delivery and monitoring of service provision.
